I was inspired by Lateef’s @lateef.photography stunning mastery of contrast and opposition—the way it creates a fantastic balance in storytelling, in light, shadow, and texture.

As the holiday season surrounds us with lavish design and luxury, that vision of richness feels far for so many. That sharp contrast and that thought was the starting point for this image.

    Refreshing Hungarian Chilled Strawberry Soup 🍓 Refreshing Hungarian Chilled Strawberry Soup

🍓This vibrant soup is a summer favorite in Hungary, typically served as a refreshing first course before a main dish.

Happy to be in collaboration with the wonderful Lynn @familytreefoodie and Rose @thehungarysoul about chilled Hungarian soups!🥣Check out their fantastic recipes!

Ingredients:
 * 1 lb (450-500g) fresh strawberries, hulled
 * 1/2 cup (120ml) water, divided (plus more for desired thickness)
 * 3 tbsp granulated sugar
 * 1 to 1.5 tbsp powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
 * 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream
 * 1/2 cup (120ml) table cream (or heavy cream for thicker soup)
 * 1-2 tsp fresh lemon juice
 * For topping: Whipped cream
Instructions:
 * Cook Strawberry Base: In a saucepan, simmer hulled strawberries with 1/4 cup water and granulated sugar over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, until soft.
 * Blend & Cool: Remove from heat and lightly blend the mixture (smooth or chunky). Let the base cool down completely.
 * Finish the Soup: Once cooled, whisk in the sour cream, table cream (or heavy cream), and powdered sugar. Stir in the lemon juice. Add the remaining 1/4 cup water, then slowly add more water until desired consistency. Adjust sweetness/tartness.
 * Chill & Serve: Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve cold, topped with whipped cream.
Notes:
 * For a thicker soup: Swap table cream for heavy cream, or use only sour cream for a denser texture.
 * Sweetness level: I prefer this soup lightly sweet, as it’s often a refreshing first course in Hungary. Adjust powdered sugar to taste.
 * Make ahead for ease: Prepare the strawberry base (steps 1 & 2) the night before.
