Hi, I’m Kata!
Welcome to my blog, welcome to my new world. I am so excited that you are here. Let me give you a brief overview who I am and why I decided to create this blog.
I was born in Budapest, Hungary, and lived there for more than thirty years. During that time I got two diplomas, ran my own business for about a decade, and met my future husband. We chose Montreal, Canada to be our home base, where we have been living ever since. I am a busy, full-time working mom of two beautiful children, and of course I am a proud wife of my Canadian-Hungarian husband.
Our common language at home is English as my husband does not speak much Hungarian. I speak though with our kids mostly in Hungarian. I am aware that I speak English with a Hungarian accent, and according to my Hungarian friend, I have been speaking Hungarian with an English accent. It is crazy, isn’t it?! It just made me think, if I had any language left that I can speak without an “accent”?! I came to a conclusion, that I do have actually, and it is cooking Hungarian food. It never ever changed.
I was always passionate about cooking, especially Hungarian cooking. Hungarian food means to me tradition, connection to my roots, to my identity, to my childhood memories, and so much more. In addition I was always passionate sharing it with my family, with my friends. In short, that is how I came to a conclusion, and created this blog.
Meanwhile I fell in love with food photography, and this connection seems to get stronger and stronger with time. All photos in this blog are made by me.
Through this blog I would like to share the joy of authentic Hungarian cooking. How simple it could be to create delicious meals using mostly everyday ingredients. The wonder of soups, the different vegetable stews and casseroles, the divine cookies and cakes, the pickles, hmm…. and so much more.
Join me in this amazing adventure.
